The four outdoor courts at War Memorial Park have reopened after a full refurbishment, funded in partnership with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council.

Exciting transformations are complete at Basingstoke Tennis Centre in War Memorial Park, with the outdoor tennis courts officially reopened following a much-needed, comprehensive refurbishment. This major upgrade has been made possible thanks to vital partnership funding from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council, ensuring local players have access to top-tier, revitalised playing surfaces just in time for the peak summer season.
The four outdoor courts have been completely resurfaced and re-marked, vastly improving the playing experience and safety for the local community. The council-owned centre, operated by the National Tennis Association, is undergoing a wider wave of infrastructure improvements. This includes a newly allocated £250,000 from the council's Community Infrastructure Levy, which will fund the future creation of brand-new padel tennis courts to complement the existing indoor and newly revamped outdoor setups.
Cabinet Member for Sports, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Kerry Morrow, welcomed the ongoing investment, noting that the funding supports a wealth of infrastructure improvements to meet the needs of residents, promote wellbeing, and support the community to be active across a range of activities. While the future padel facilities are still in the pipeline, the freshly completed outdoor courts are fully open and ready for action.
With the outdoor courts looking better than ever, it is the perfect time to pick up a racket. Our full summer schedule of weekly social sessions, competitive leagues, and professional coaching clinics is up and running.
